What most of you call LN is most likely WN, aka web novel. The web novel has chapters, 200 in total (it was dropped). The light novel has 4 volumes (at least in English). I only read WN and manga, but the latter follows the LN story. People who read both WN and LN mostly prefer WN version, tbw.

I don't know about The Eminence in Shadown LN, but LN usually adds a couple of side stories in each volume. Either Canon or non-canon but usually fun

Well the light novels are basically the "complete version" of a webnovel or said story. Basically said, nothing more can be written when it's in the book so I recommend you jump into the light novels immediately and if possible, start with the light novels from the beginning in every story.

It's always better the LN because it has more details but is good to read the Manga because you can see the characters in action too. I found the light novels to be a breeze to read, outside of the second half of book 4 which is a bit of a slog for me.
